Tomorrow marks an important moment in the history of Boneo Park, as the business officially transitions to new ownership.
For our family, this brings mixed emotions; it provides an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved and to look to the future with optimism.
Our family purchased the property over 25 years ago as a degraded swamp and farmland. With a vision, passion and sheer tenacity, we have created one of Australiaโs most respected equestrian and conservation assets.
We truly believe that Boneo Park has provided a platform for our sport to grow over the past 20 years. This growth has been supported by many industry participants including sponsors, officials, the equestrian media, competitors, and volunteers. For this we are truly grateful.
With this support, we have achieved many memorable outcomes for the sport including:
– Setting the standard for arena surfaces in Australia
– Facilitating Olympic selection from Australia
– Supporting Olympic and World Championship riders through fundraising campaigns
– Hosting numerous International and Australian Championships
– Hosting some of the world’s best equestrian athletes in masterclasses and private clinics
– Providing a world-class training facility with International coaches and Olympic Champions
– Fostering a relationship with Off The Track with multiple events over the years culminating in the creation of the Off The Track Carnival in 2025
As many would be aware, the initial purchase of the site was the 196 hectares of wetlands. The biodiversity that inhabits this area is significant and unique, and is something very personal for our family. The restoration of these wetlands is one of our proudest achievements, allowing the natural systems and native flora and fauna to once again flourish as it would have done in the past. This has become an important conservation asset for the area, and is now protected in perpetuity for future generations to enjoy.
The transition of ownership to Paul and Georgia Solomon is an opportunity to pay tribute to the people whose dedication, passion, and hard work have made it possible.
It is simply not possible to individually thank the thousands of people who have supported us over the years. To everybody who has helped, we are truly grateful and thank you. However, we must acknowledge our immediate and extended family who have all played critical roles.
Firstly, we want to thank our father Rob who, alongside his vision for restoring the wetlands was the key person behind the development of the property. Rob has also been very actively involved in the operations of the business over the years and the opportunity to work alongside him has provided much enjoyment. We remain equally grateful for the contribution of his partner Kathy, in particular in the design of the restaurant.
Our brother Scott and niece Mia, have also made significant contributions to the business, particularly in the development of our jumping events and site improvements.
We have been very lucky to have been so well supported by our mother Judy and immediate families. Fionaโs husband Edward, young daughter Olivia, and Karenโs daughters Molly and Alice, have all supported in many ways. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, but Judy has always been a rock of support for us, attending most events at Boneo Park.
We have been fortunate to have some of the very best staff work with us since the beginning. Long term staff who have stood by us and supported us all the way. Your commitment, professionalism and work ethic have been the backbone of everything that has been accomplished here and we are very grateful.
Boneo Park has grown into a truly special place within the equestrian community. Its success has been built not only on the vision behind it, but on the dedication, hard work, and passion of so many people over the years. Literally thousands of officials, judges and volunteers who have all worked through wind, rain, hail and occasionally sunshine to ensure the events took place.
To the competitors who keep entering our events, turning up month after month, thank you. Your support gave us the belief to keep going, and importantly to know that if we built it, you would come!
Our agistee family, and we say family as over the years you have become family and we have had the fortune of always having a very special group of agistees. Thank you for trusting us with the care of your horse.
It has been a privilege to see the venue grow, host wonderful events, and become a second home for so many within the equestrian world. None of this would have been possible without the collective efforts of everyone who has been part of the journey. Thank you Australian equestrian community!
As we turn the page to a new chapter, we would like to warmly welcome the new owners, Paul and Georgia Solomon along with their team. Boneo Park could not be in better hands, and it is exciting for the sport to have such capable new owners. We wish them every success as they take Boneo Park into the future and look forward to supporting them.
Thank you again to everyone who has played a role in making Boneo Park what it is today!
